Along with new classes, monsters and places to explore, new magic items will also be introduced into the desert campaign setting. Inspiration for these magic items is easy enough to find in Middle Eastern folk tales such as One Thousand and One Nights. Ahmed’s Opulent Tent and the Samarkand Apple are two such items.
Ahmed’s Opulent Tent
Wondrous item, legendary
This item appears as an ornate piece of folded cloth no bigger than a handkerchief. To use the item, the cloth must be placed on sand. A command word is spoken causing the cloth to unfold into an opulent tent. The tent is 25 feet wide, 25 feet wide and 10 feet high. The inside of the tent is ornately furnished with couches, tables and bedding. The floor is covered with luxurious carpets. On the initial setup and once per day thereafter the tent is supplied with a full day’s provisions of extravagant food and drink. The magic of the tent protects any creature inside from the environmental hazards of the desert such as the extreme heat and even the Great Storm. A second command word causes the tent to fold back into the cloth, so long as there are no creatures inside.
Wondrous item, uncommon
An individual who consumes a Samarkand apple will be instantaneously cured of any disease, magical or otherwise. The entire apple must be eaten to gain the benefit of its magic. A Samarkand apple will keep for two weeks after being picked from its tree.
